Well now, I never mentioned WHO it was that chastised me, nor would I....I wouldn't want to get Jack into trouble Very Happy  Very Happy

Mind you there were a few more contributors in those days, two at least of whom are now sadly deceased.

I think that a lot of the problem is that many of our colleagues are, to be polite 'getting on a bit' and don't really feel at home on the internet. The very youngest of us now is approaching our 70's. Too many stories of stolen ID's etc will not help. As for the views but no responses, remember this is an open forum and general public can find and view posts (play nicely please). As they are not signed up, (as not WC), they will not post a response but perhaps read a few of the postings thus creating the views. Every time someone registers on the main web site and are confirmed as WC, they receive full instructions how to find the Log Book, Chronicles, FB page and the Forum. Everyone has also been reminded on several annual reunion invites and as Jack said at the reunion. So I am afraid there is not much to be done. A redesign of the original forum from one single thread to several did not work either. But it seems the posts are of interest to a few out there and do help to spread the word we - the WC Old Boys - do exist! (as does the web site). Roll on reunion 2016  - new faces this year due to earlier date and loss of some old ones who have previous engagements. But Just like Arnie they will be back! About same numbers as last couple of years. Sorry guys but I am not a HAM but will confess to owning an Eddystone which is cranked up now and again to keep the capacitors healthy. I deny all knowledge of M8. Oh before I forget, our first web site used free space and when that was due to close the only free space was with Google and there is not enough for all  our pics etc. Unless we move to paid space. I pay annually for the domain name. Consequently the fun stuff moved to Face Book - leaving a more serious web page to help us find more WC. I have no idea of how many people find and correspond with each other via the email addys in the Log Book, but that's one of the main reason the web is there - to put old friends directly in touch. Surprised). For interest a video I post on the FB page received four thousand views and one of those views might just say to someone 'Hey didn't you go to the WC?' Happy Easter.

Thank you Dah for your very sensible message(crawl crawl, you might stop 'insulting'me in Llandudno! As Don said we decided to keep the Forum stuttering along in memory of several much missed ship mates, regular contributors now departed to Fiddlers Green. I notice that several recent postings have been removed by a 'censor' In these P.C. days we must be extra careful not to upset racial and political groups with our personal comments. We wouldn't like to see Dah as the boss dragged off to the Tower of London, would we? Oh,I don't know though!

As Dah said, it is important to "play nicely", not only because non-members might see our posts, which are in some cases governed by certain laws of the land regarding provocative or inflammatory subjects, whether you like that or not, but because THAT'S THE KIND OF PEOPLE WE ARE.

There IS (no, NOT I.S.!) space for the "fun stuff" on this forum as well as the more serious business of contacting former instructors, colleagues and friends while they are still around, to that end, the more means available, the better, before it's too late for many more of us.

Nevertheless, this forum IS one of those means and it is a great shame that it is not used more, still, we live in a (more or less) democracy and it is a matter of individual choice, although if our aging membership is not comfortable with using the internet then they are unlikely to be any more comfortable using Facebook than they are using the Forum.

I am not a great fan of the "mainstream" social media, Facebook, Linkdin etc., they are even more wide open to abuse such as bullying and ID theft than this forum, as has been proved by recent cases, although I sometimes use them.

I've been to the Tower of London on several occasions, it's a bit like Cornwall in that it's a nice place to visit but living there can be a whole different matter (yes, I've lived in Cornwall), so while Dah might like to visit the ToL, I doubt he would be keen to take up residence!!

Didn't see the Llandudno programme, I was out for the day at Bletchley Park!! - Absolutely remarkable Shocked  Shocked

Ah, Old Thumper, not a beer to be trifled with!! (Used to be 6% but now reduced to 5.1%)

Unfortunately, what is on at the moment is no guarantee as to what might be on in March, never mind, that's all part of life's rich tapestry.
