Yes,they said I came from an unstable country! By the way Don who said something about 'fooling the people part of the time etc etc,'?  I think he's just been proved wrong!  I'm talking about the first Lion's match of course!!!!!!

The quote is "You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can not fool all of the people all of the time."-  Abraham Lincoln ("Honest Abe")

Didn't see the first Lions match, so I can't comment, I thought you were referring to that nice Mr Trump, or "Honest Don" as he likes to be known (any other title is fake news!).

Still, we've got Mr Trump in the White House, Mr Putin in the Kremlin, Kim Jong Un in Pyongyang, a hung Parliament here, the Taliban back in control of most parts of Afghanistan, NOBODY in control in Iraq or Syria and a proliferation of wannabe "martyrs" just waiting for the call, so what has the World got to fear?

Thanks for the quotation Don. I was thinking a bit nearer home! Well I'm about to venture out into the June weather in search of the magic bottomless cash bag that some of our leaders say exists!  I may be gone some time!

Yeah, why not, he's into lost causes and flights of fancy.

Quick (and easy) poser just to lighten the mood:

If you throw a silver dollar down upon the ground, it will ro-o-oll....why?

Well, I DID say it was easy, however, to be strictly in context, the answer should have been "because it's rou-ou-ound"
(tell me I'm wrong  Very Happy ).

There was no connection, Freudian, Jungian or other, with the person to whom you referred it was just a thought that crossed my mind at the time, of course it died of loneliness and dehydration in that particular desert!

Never mind, Friday tomorrow and a couple of decent ales of an afternoon, depending on what the "Five Bells" has on offer this week, followed by a "Blue Peter" curry (one I made earlier).

Why would mariners have to hurry to enjoy your curry?

Until you've sampled it you can never know, mind you the combination of chilies (Naga, Habanero and Jamaican Scorpion) that I use can make it a bit hot for some tastes but I enjoy it anyway!! (As do several of my friends who have tried it).

Oh, was it? I thought it was just a pithy comment.

I am fully aware of the significance of the Blue Peter as a flag, (The letter "P" -
meaning ready for sea, crew and/or passengers return to ship post haste) however, I was referring to Blue Peter, the children's TV programme and their stock phrase "Here's one I made earlier".

Clearly I wasn't paying attention when I read it - oh well.

Oh yes, two of my favourite beers, however, Hobgoblin is not as nice as it used to be since they altered both the recipe and the strength a few years ago - still a good beer though.

Watched an interesting programme on 'Quest', the salvaging of  a wrecked beaufighter shot down by 'friendly fire' in 1944 off Rye. I think you told me your Dad flew a Bristol aircraft in WW2.
